Vibration:
Minimize local vibration. Excessive vibration will reduce the stability of the mass
and subsequent flow values measured by GFS2102.
Following are other site selection criteria to consider:
Overall footprint and system layout:
The GFS2102 draft enclosure and vibration isolation
table should be set up in relation to the work surface for the device under test (DUT) as
shown in Figure 12. As the draft enclosure is viewed from the front, the flow path exit from
the enclosure is on the right side. To minimize the volume of the flow path and number of
connections, the GFS enclosure and table should be placed just to the left of the DUT work
surface. The height of the flow path exit from the draft enclosure is approximately 40 in. from
the floor. Both the enclosure and table are approximately 36 in. wide by 24 in. deep. The
table top is 34 in. high and the top of the enclosure is 58 in. high.
Electrical power supply:
Plan the supply of electrical power to the Control Cabinet. See
Section 1.1.1 for GFS system electrical power requirements. Be sure to consider DUT
electrical requirements also.
If low flow (<100sccm) tests will be performed on a regular basis and power interruptions,
brown outs, or other power anomalies can occur, a battery backup UPS is recommended. At a
minimum, the PC, balance, LCM, MFC-CB, and any units powering or interfacing with the DUT (i.e.
molbox1) need to be on the battery backup.
Vacuum pump:
Vacuum is not required for the operation of the GFS2102 system. If the
device under test is a molbloc-S or other device that may be used with vacuum, plan to
locate the vacuum pump so that heat, noise and vibration do not have negative effect on the
system and consider electrical supply needs of the pump. The vacuum pump exhaust outlet
should be allowed to exit the room where the GFS is located, preferably to the outdoors,
particularly if the calibration gas is volatile or toxic.
A vacuum pump interconnect kit is normally ordered with a vacuum pump and includes a
check valve to vent gas in the event of a power failure rather than over pressurizing the molbox1
pressure transducers. This check valve should also be connected to an exhaust vent.
