Initialize the Storage Center Using the USB Serial
Port
If the Discover and Configure Storage Center wizard does not discover the Storage Center that you want to initialize, use the serial port on
a storage controller to find it.
Install the USB Serial Port Driver
Use this procedure to install a serial port driver that gives you access to the console ports on the storage system.
About this task
Install the serial port driver as a standard Windows driver.
The serial port for the SCv3000 and SCv3020 storage controller is an FT4232 USB device, which has four console ports. Only two ports
are used when working with SCv3000 and SCv3020 storage systems:
•
The first port is used to communicate with the Storage Center software.
•
The second port is used to communicate with the Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC).
NOTE:
Depending on the computer you are using, the port numbers might not always be 1 for the Storage Center software and 2
for the iDRAC. Communication with the Storage Center software always occurs over the port with the lower number.
