Usage
Information
Splitting a 40G port into 4x10G port is supported on standalone and stacked units.
The quad port must be in a default configuration before it can be split into 4x10G
ports. The 40G port is lost in the config when the port is split, so be sure that the
port is also removed from other L2/L3 feature configurations.
The system must be reloaded after issuing the CLI for the change to take effect.
This command cannot be used if LR4 optics are inserted on the 40G interface.
The following guidelines apply to the splitting of 40GbE QSFP+ ports into four
10GbE SFP+ ports by using the
stack-unit portmode
command on the S6000
platform.
• When 26 ports are configured as fan-out, 6 ports are disabled. For disabled
ports, interfaces are not created.
• Support is added to configure a disabled port as a fan-out port, when the
maximum limit is not exceeded. This behavior reduces the number of reloads
required to configure a disabled port in quad mode to non-quad mode (negate
the splitting).
• When you configure 13 ports as fan-out, a warning message is displayed stating
that the maximum number of ports that can be configured in quad mode in the
range has been reached. Ports X,Y,Z will be disabled on reload” (Range <0-60>
& <64 - 124>) .
• When you attempt to configure fan-out on the ports on which fan-out
functionality is not supported, an appropriate warning message is generated
stating that quad-mode ports limit has been reached and that additional ports
cannot be configured.
