The Standby Power Supply (SPS)
Replacing an SPS in a Rackmount System
Replace an SPS when the SPS fault LED or the SPS Replace Battery
LED glows. You can replace one SPS while the storage system is
powered up.
Battery replacement must occur at the factory; you cannot do it
yourself.
To replace an SPS, you need the following items:
•
Replacement SPS. The charge state of an SPS depends on the time
and temperature of storage, as explained in Appendix A.
IMPORTANT:
If an SPS has failed, do not remove it until you have a charged
replacement ready.
•
Small and medium Phillips screwdrivers
To replace an SPS:
1. On the SPS to be replaced, turn power off using the SPS power
switch (shown in Figure 4-1). The On-battery LED may come on
for a maximum of 90 seconds. Wait for the LED to go off.
2. Unplug the ac inlet cable, ac outlet cable, and interface cable
connector from the SPS.
3. To maintain redundant power, plug the ac outlet cable into an ac
inlet in the cabinet’s power distribution unit.
4. At the front of the system, remove the mounting tray bezel by
pressing the bezel clips inward and pulling the bezel gently
toward you. See Figure 4-10.
5. Remove the two screws that secure the SPS to the mounting tray
as shown in Figure 4-11.
NOTE: Figure 4-11 illustrates SPS A being removed from the system.
