a. In the Nodes list, right-click the faulty node and select Remove Node and
Unassign IP addresses.
This removes the node, and returns its IP addresses to the IP pool so that
they can be used by nodes that may join the system later. The node
continues to be monitored until it is completely removed.
b. Click OK.
c. When the process completes successfully, click Close.
The node is removed from the system.
11. For ESXi nodes, from the vSphere client, remove the server from the vCenter.
Adding devices
Add a device to a VxFlex Ready Node system. This procedure is relevant for storage
devices and for acceleration devices.
Before you begin
Ensure that an appropriate Storage Pool is defined in the system, because the new
device must be assigned to a pool.
If the device that you are adding will be used for DAS Cache, all the SSDs in use with
DAS Cache on the specific server must first be removed, and then all SSDs for DAS
Cache should be added back to the system together. Up to two DAS Cache devices
can be configured on each server.
Procedure
1. If you have not already done so, physically install the device in the chassis.
2. Ensure that the new device was installed correctly and is in the proper state:
a. From the VxFlex OS GUI Hardware view, click the new device.
b. Find the device’s state in the Physical Drive Properties sheet.
3. From the Hardware view, right-click the device, and choose the required
option:
l
For a storage device, choose Add to Storage Pool. In the Add Devices
window, select a Storage Pool. If the device was used previously, select
Force Device Takeover to overwrite all existing data on the device (all
existing data will be lost). Click OK.
l
For an acceleration device, choose Add Acceleration Drive (this option is
only available for SSD and NVMe SSD devices). In the Add Cache Devices
window, click OK
Note:
In 13G PowerEdge servers, SSDs support both RFcache and DAS
Cache. In 14G PowerEdge servers, SSDs support RFcache only. NVMe
SSD devices support RFcache only.
.
Results
When a storage device is added, a rebalance begins. You can monitor progress in the
Dashboard view. When the rebuild is complete, the new disk has been successfully
added to the system.
Removing devices
The removal of storage devices can take a long time, because removal may require
data to be moved to other storage devices in the system. If you plan to replace a
