iDRAC Service Module
The iDRAC Service module (iSM) is a small OS-resident process that expands iDRAC
management into supported host operating systems. Services that the iSM adds
include OS information, automatic system recovery, and remote server power cycle.
It also enables NVMe device removal without shutting down or rebooting the system.
Install the iDRAC Service Module on a Windows server
The iDRAC Service Module (iSM) is available as an .exe file for installing on systems
running Windows 2012 R2 or Windows 2016. The file for the supported Windows
versions is

Procedure
1. Download the

2. Double-click the DUP package in your local directory.
The Dell iDRAC Service Module DUP 3.0.1, A00 install window appears.
3. Click Install.
The DUP runs an inventory of your system for any previous versions of the
iDrac Service Module, and then displays a package version and an installed
version.
4. Verify that the package and installed version are correct, and then click Yes to
continue the update.
5. When the message appears that the update has completed successfully, click
Finish to complete the installation.
6. Reboot the server.
7. From the iDRAC web interface, open the iDRAC settings > Overview page and
ensure that the iDRAC Service Module status is Running.

scripts, and sample configuration files that you can use to deploy and configure the
Dell systems. This section provides additional information on using the ScaleIO Ready

firmware on ScaleIO Ready Node servers.
Dell OpenManage DRAC Tools (RACADM)
An integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC) with Lifecycle Controller is
embedded in every Dell PowerEdge server. The RACADM command-line utility
provides a scriptable interface that enables you to configure the iDRAC either locally
or remotely. The utility runs on the management station and the managed system.
