Installing vCenter Server root certificates on web browser
(vSphere 6.5)

Install the trusted root certificate authority (CA) certificates.

About this task

Install trusted root certificate authority (CA) certificates. This procedure is applicable for Internet Explorer
only. For browsers other than Internet Explorer, refer to respective browser documentation.

Procedure

Open the Internet Explorer web browser and go to

https://vcsa_fqdn

.

In the vCenter getting started page, select

Download trusted root CA certificates

and save the

file locally.

Unzip the downloaded files.

Right click on each .crt file and click

Open

. In the pop up dialog click

Install Certificate

. Select

Local Machine

and click

Next

Setting up Java and Internet Explorer on the management
workstation or VM (vSphere 6.x)

Set up Java and Internet Explorer version 11 on the management workstation or VM (element manager) if
Unisphere or other web-based applications fail to launch. Configure the Java security setting to support
web-based applications.

Before you begin

•

vSphere 6.0: Ensure Java version 7 Update 51 or later is installed on the management
workstation or VM.

•

vSphere 6.5: Ensure Java version 8 Update 131 or later is installed on the management
workstation or VM.

•

Ensure the Java security level complies with your corporate security policy.

Procedure

Using administrative privileges, log on to Microsoft Windows on the management workstation or
virtual machine.

Navigate to the Java Windows Control Panel.

3

Select the

Security

tab.

4

Set the security level to the lowest setting (least secure).
