If you do not have a tested backup and recovery solution for the VMware vSphere 6.0 PSCs and
VMware vCenter servers, do not proceed with a VMware vSphere 6.0 ELM configuration. ELM
adds complexity to the backup and recovery solution, based on the number of PSCs and VMware
vSphere 6.0 PSCs and VMware vCenter servers have differences in their respective backup
strategies.

Converged System AMP design

Dell EMC manufacturing configures the AMP with VMware vSphere 6.0 using only VMware
recommended topologies. Deployment of the PSC and VMware vCenter using a non-recommended
topology may prevent backing up and restoring a VMware vCenter server environment with a PSC(s).

Each Converged System participating in ELM must continue to maintain a functioning AMP. To maintain
the original Converged System premise of independence, each Converged System VMware vSphere
environment must not rely on the VMware vSphere infrastructure of another Converged System to
operate correctly. This implies that all VMware vSphere 6.0 management VMs in a Converged System
must use local storage for the AMP-2P M4, or shared VNXe storage for the AMP-2S M4.

External PSCs are required for VMware vSphere 6.0 ELM. Dell EMC does not recommend embedded
VMware PSCs.

Dell EMC does not recommend the deployment of a PSC SSO domain with multiple SSO sites. The
deployment of multiple sites impacts the VMware vSphere 6.0 backup and recovery procedure. Refer to
the following link for backup limitations with multi-site SSO:
