If you are removing the card permanently, install a metal filler bracket over the empty expansion slot opening and push the expansion
card latch.
NOTE:
You must install a filler bracket over an empty expansion card slot to maintain Federal Communications Commission
(FCC) certification of the system. The brackets also keep dust and dirt out of the system and aid in proper cooling and
airflow inside the system.
Installing expansion card into the expansion card riser
Prerequisites

Follow the safety guidelines listed in

If installing a new expansion card, unpack it and prepare the card for installation.
NOTE:
For instructions, see the documentation accompanying the card.

When installing a card into low profile, full height X1, or butterfly riser, open the PCIe card holder latch.
Steps

Pull and lift up the expansion card retention latch lock to open

If installed, remove the filler bracket.
