5 Installation
5.3 Hydraulic connection
● Before making the hydraulic connection, it is essential to flush the water
network to avoid introducing dirt particles which could damage the
safety components (valve or safety unit in particular).
● Ensure that the primary and secondary circuits are hydraulically isolated
with stop valves to facilitate maintenance operations on the tank.
These make it possible to carry out maintenance on the tank and its
components without
draining the entire installation. They also make it possible to isolate the
tank when testing the installation pressure, if the test pressure exceeds
the pressure authorised by the tank.
● When connecting the tank to a copper pipe, it is necessary to insert
dielectric unions, or reducing couplings or equal male-female couplings
made from cast iron or brass.
● The connection between the safety valve and the tank must not
feature any shut-off components. Moreover, the discharge pipe in the
safety valve must not be blocked.
If the operating pressure exceeds 80% of the calibration of the safety
valve, a pressure reducer must be installed upstream of the tank. It is
recommended to install the pressure reducer downstream of the water
meter so as to ensure the same pressure in all of the pipes.
● Install a water drain in the boiler room and a funnel-siphon for the
safety unit.
● Connection to the cold water supply must be made according to the
diagrams in chapter 5.3.1. The components must comply with the
standards and regulations in force in each country concerned.
Warning
In accordance with safety rules, a sealed safety valve calibrated
to 7 bar must be fitted on the tank's domestic cold water inlet.
For capacities of 500 litres or less, we recommend NF-marked
hydraulic diaphragm safety units.
The tank has two circuits:
- a primary circuit, which must be connected to a heat source: central
heating boiler or solar collector,
- a secondary domestic hot water circuit.
Note
The drain device on the pressure limiter must be regularly
operated in order to remove limescale deposits and ensure that
it is not blocked.
