Shows whether the Turbo 601 or the motherboard 68030
is currently being used and the speed at which it is operating.

Turbo 601 Startup. Allows you to turn on Turbo 601 the next time you
restart the machine.
^ 68030 Startup. Allows you to run from the motherboard 68030 the next
time you restart the machine.
NOTE: When the com puter restarts, you m ay notice that you r computer's startup
sound is different. The startup sound depends on the processor the com puter uses.
ALSO NOTE: RAM disk inform ation w ill he lost when sw itching modes. I f y ou
have created a RAM disk in the PowerPC mode, be sure to back up the infor­
m ation you have stored there before sw itching to the 68030 mode.
f B M odern M emory Manager allows you to turn Apple’ s Memory Manager
on and off. The default is on. For best performance when using programs
designed for the PowerPC, you should turn on the Modern Memory Manager.
Some older applications may not work properly with the new memory manager
turned on. NOTE: This feature is also accessible from the Memory control panel.
M i D isable M em ory Test
provides the option for disabling A pple’ s
extensive, but tim e consum ing, m em ory test. A quick and sim ple test is
perform ed in its place, which, depen din g on the am ount o f m em ory
installed, can significantly decrease the tim e required to b o o t your Mac.
Menu Bar M ode Indicator allows you to add an icon to the menu bar to show
which processor the Macintosh is currently using.
1 Turbo 601. Shows that the Turbo 601 is currently being used.
HJ 68030.
Shows that the motherboard 68030 is currently being used.
With the Menu Bar Mode Indicator you have the option o f having the icon appear
on the left or right side of the menu bar, or you can disable it completely.
