Terms and acronyms are used throughout this service guide. A fuller explanation of them is provided with this glossary.
Datamars part
number Part numbers are being transitioned from the older Tru-Test manufacturing system format
(JDE) to the new Datamars part number format (SAP). Both numbers can be used for
ordering parts for 2020/2021 and are displayed in the format
SAP #
(JDE#). For example:
880 0000-963
(830037P).

Firmware
A specific class of computer software that provides the low-level control for a device's
specific hardware. Can also be termed internal software or software.
FFC The display and the keypad use FFCs (flat flexible circuits) to connect to the main PCA
(cables and connectors).
FPC Flexible Printed Circuit.
LCD A Liquid-Crystal Display is a flat-panel display or other electronically modulated optical device
that uses the light-modulating properties of liquid crystals to display information on a screen.
PCA Printed circuit assembly.
PCB Printed circuit board.
Pozidriv A cross-head screwdriver (and screw) with parallel flanks which prevents the ejection force
during tightening or loosening. The name Pozidriv is the abbreviation or acronym for
"positive drive".
PPE Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). What you should wear (as a service agent during
servicing).
Return
Authorisation (RA)
number Before a product or assembly is returned to Datamars Ltd for service or analysis, please
advise us beforehand so that a Return Authorisation (RA) number can be allocated. The RA
number will ensure that we are ready for the product when it is received and assist us in
providing efficient and prompt service. Please mark all packaging with the RA number.
