For each data record appropriate data fields can
be created and the field characteristics can be
defined.
This procedure is the same as when
creating new data records.
The data type Date_Time is defined with a fixed
length. When using strings you have to give an
indication of length additionally.

5.2.5 Creating list descriptions
Lists provide a defined data base. You can compare them with the combo-box of a PC application.
Caution:
When creating list descriptions please note the following restrictions:
•
At most 25 data fields are admissible per each list description.
•
Numeric character fields and ASCII-fields with a firmware release smaller than
04.01.03 are limited to 20 characters, the following firmware versions can save
up to 40 characters in the fields.
•
The total length of a data record is limited to 242 byte.
•
At most 20 list descriptions can be created.
Creating and defining list descriptions with data
fields is carried out analogously to the creating of
data record descriptions, under the element Lists
in the tree structure (see also chapter
).
In addition you can set a list field as key field. That
way searching in long lists is expedited.
