Air-Cooled Condenser Manual

10.0 REMOTE THERMOSTAT BULB MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS

The water-sensing thermostats used on the fluid cooler each consist of a capillary tube
connected to a sensing bulb. The thermostat sensing bulbs are to be strapped to the leaving
water header of the fluid cooler coil and insulated with insulation tape. Follow the instructions
below for the proper installation of the sensing bulbs.

10.1 TYPICAL SENSING BULB INSTALLATION

1. Remove the remote bulbs and capillary tube assembly from the electrical enclosure

and extend the capillary so the bulbs reach the middle of the common leaving water
header of the fluid cooler, as shown in the picture.

CAUTION:

Be careful to avoid bending the capillary tubes. The

tubes should not contact any sharp metal edges.

2.  Use a zip tie to position the sensing bulbs in place on the header.
3.  Secure the sensing bulbs with two (2) copper straps and a Tek screw.
4.  Apply thermal mastic paste evenly to the contact points of each bulb and the leaving

water header to increase the heat conductivity.

5. Install insulation tape around the sensing bulbs as shown in the picture.
6. Set the thermostats controllers (located inside the electrical enclosure) as indicated

below for fans 2 to 5.

10.2 NOTES

Energy Saver coils. Otherwise, the first fan does not have a thermostat and runs
continuously.

2. Regular maintenance should include observation of the fan modulation based on

leaving fluid temperature.

3. When used with an expansion tank package, thermostats should be set in the same

manner as indicated above.

4. Field installation, similar to the above, is required on the common leaving water

header which ties the two coils together on a double-wide fluid cooler system.
