Fibre Handling and Maintenance
The fibre optic cables in the RadiSense are a crucial part of the system. Improper handling and
poor maintenance can cause deterioration or permanent damage. Please read the following
handling and maintenance guidelines to ensure both your safety and the quality of the product.
2.6.1
Handling guidelines
Always place the plastic end-caps on the fibre connectors when they are not in use.
Only use the supplied end caps.
Never touch the tip of the fibre connector (core surface). If the tip of the connector
is touched, use the supplied alcohol wipes to clean it before usage!
Never drop the fibre connectors, as this may damage the core surface.
Never bend the fibres (exceed the minimum bend radius <5 cm), as this will break
the fibre core.
Never pull the fibre connector out of a coupling by its orange jacket, always use the
connector.
Fasten the connectors by hand only, never use tools.
Do not stand on or crush the fibres.
Do not apply mechanical stress (pull) to the fibres.
Switch off the system before detaching the fibres.
2.6.2
Maintenance guideline
Clean the contact surface of the fibres with the lint-free alcohol wipes before installation.
Do not use other solvents or wipes. Fibres are clean and polished on delivery and do not
need to be cleaned when installed for the first time, when the handling guidelines as
defined in chapter 2.7.1 are properly followed.
