Shaft assembly

Caution
The optional magnetic speed sensor ring is pressed onto a machined surface of the shaft. Take care not to
damage the sensor ring.
1. Check the seal area of the shaft (L1) for damage or wear.
2. Check the output splines for damage or wear.
3. Inspect synchronizing shaft raceways for wear.
4. Inspect shaft bearings for wear and roughness.
5. Check that the bearing retaining nut is firmly staked to the output shaft, and that no noticeable
looseness is present in the bearings.
6. Check the piston assemblies (L84) for damage or wear.

Bearings and pistons are not individually serviceable. Replace the entire shaft assembly if any
components are damaged or worn.
Piston rings
1. Use a small pair of retaining ring pliers to spread and remove the piston rings (L230) from the pistons.
Discard the rings.
