The Linea HS is capable of being run in four different modes: TDI, TDI HDR (High Dynamic Range),
TDI HFW (High Full Well), and TDI Area mode.
TDI Mode
TDI mode is the default operating mode for the camera. The camera operates as a TDI line scan
camera combining multiple exposures of an object as it passes each row in the array into one high
sensitivity image. In this mode the main 128 stage array is used and the full 300 kHz line rate can
be achieved.
High Dynamic Range (HDR)
High Dynamic Range allows the user to image scenes that contain very bright parts of the image
and dark areas of the image. Without HDR the camera would need to perform two passes of the
subject being imaged, changing the light and / or camera parameters between sweeps. With the
camera set to HDR mode, the dark and light areas can be imaged at the same time, thereby
improving the inspection time throughput.
Note: in HDR mode image data is collected from 2 TDI arrays, i.e. the camera outputs two rows
that will have to be combined to create an HDR image. This limits the maximum line rate to 150
kHz x 2.
To control the data range that can be imaged select the HDR ratio, as shown in the table below.
This ratio controls the number of stages used in each TDI pixel array.

High Full Well
High Full Well mode is similar to High Dynamic Range mode in the sense that the camera is using
two TDI pixel arrays, but in this case the arrays are equal size.

Area mode
In Area Mode, the camera operates as an area array camera (16,384 x 128 or 8,192 x 128 pixels)
using a two dimensional array of pixels. Area Mode is useful for aligning the camera to your web
direction or when you need a rectangular 2D image and the lighting supports a full frame imager.
It also assists in the ability to focus the camera. Doing so in any of the other of the three modes
can be difficult.
