Conditions
Service case
Service case means the replacement of a defective or failed HDD. Please note that a drive
may only be replaced by trained personnel who have been authorized to do so by Dallmeier
electronic. Contact the Dallmeier Support Team if necessary.
Please also note that the interchangeable drawer unit of the streamer are not designed for
cyclical replacement (external long term archiving) of the hard disk drives. In addition the
interchangeable drawer unit is designed for a maximum of 200 connection cycles.
Switch off streamer
The interchangeable drawer unit on the streamer is not hot-pluggable or hot-swappable.
The streamer must therefore be switched off before an HDD drawer unit can be changed.
Tested and approved hard disk drives
Use only hard disk drives that have been tested and approved by Dallmeier to replace a
defective or failed HDD.
HDDs that have not been tested and approved may cause malfunctions and may even
cause damage to the device, for example:
z
Recording loss caused by incompatibility
z
Power pack defect caused by excessive power consumption
z
Overheating of the streamer caused by excessive heat generation
The current list of hard disk drives that have been tested and approved by Dallmeier electronic
is shown in the partner forum.
Capacity of the new HDD
For technical reasons it is necessary that the capacity of a new hard disk drive to be larger
than (or precisely the same as) that of the old one. The decisive point is not the normally
specified gross capacity (GB) but the number of sectors.
NOTE
Contact the Dallmeier electronic Support Team if you are in
any doubt.
