Wireless Access Point
The D-Link DWL-1000AP is an IEEE 802.11b compliant 11
M egabits per second (Mbps) Ethernet wireless Access Point. Once
a c t ivated with the network, it provides Direct Sequence Spread
Spectrum (DSSS) operation for wireless networks delive r i n g
transparent bridging and roaming capabilities for wireless nodes.
The D-Link DWL-1000AP provides an access point connections
building Infrastructure for the network or to extend the reach of the
n e t work communications capability. It enables full mobility and
seamless roaming from cell to cell. The range of coverage per cell
for indoor use is up to 100 meters and up to 300 meter per cell for
outdoor use.
In bridge mode, the DWL-1000AP can be directly connected to a
broadband residential ga t eway or a xDSL/Cable modem to
p r ovide high-speed wireless Internet access. On a dynamic
n e t work connection, the DWL-1000AP will automatically obtain
a DHCP IP and forward additional DHCP IP’s to multiple clients
on the network.
It strictly adheres to with the most advanced IEEE netwo r k i n g
Standard for wireless connections, so the D-Link DWL-1000AP is
very compatible with multi-vendor environments that also meet
the standard compliance for IEEE 802.11b. The DW L - 1 0 0 0 A P
bandwidth data transmission rate can be set manually at 11Mbps,
5.5Mbps, 2Mbps, 1Mbps or it can be set on dynamic auto-
sensing c o n fi g u r a t i o n .
The DWL-1000AP operates in 2.4 GHz Direct Sequence Spread
Spectrum (DSSS) for wireless networks in the home or offi c e
e nvironment with transparent bridging and roaming capabilities.
The DWL-1000AP can be managed remotely via the access point
manager software. It also supports WEP (Wired Equiva l e n t
P r iva cy), MAC address control and user authentication to ensure a
secure network connection.
The D-Link DWL-1000AP will automatically identify the IP of
the host PC as well as the subnet when connected on to an Ethernet
LAN in the home or office environment. In addition, with the easy
to use access point manager software, the IP address of the DW L -
1000AP can also be manually assigned. The access point manager
s o f t ware can be installed in Wi n d ows 98, 98SE, ME, 2000 and NT
4.0.
