CWSI Field Analysis Survey Tool Survey Procedures & Guide
Terms & Definitions-
Checksum Bad -
Caused by a mismatch of programming information between the CP-
3000A(DA) and the FAST. Will also be displayed while an SD card remains in the SD card
slot. Program the FAST.
New Survey
- Using a Repeater (with the dipswitches in Survey Mode) and a FAST to
perform a site survey for a new CP-3000A(DA) system.
Existing Survey
- Using a FAST to check signal strength on an installed Network by
enrolling the device into the panel. No dipswitches need to be changed.
Test Failure-
On initial power up, if the unit is not able to connect to a Network it will
display a Test Failure trouble.
To clear this trouble press and hold ACK-Step &
Signal Silence for five (5) seconds to advance to the FAST main Screen. You can
also power cycle the unit when you are within range of an available Network.
New Survey
To perform a new site survey you will need a FAST and a Repeater. Change the dipswitch
on the repeater to place it into survey mode and enroll the FAST to the repeater. You will
see the last two digits of the repeater ID on the signal survey screen. Place the repeater
where the CP-3000A(DA) would be installed and take the fast to the first probable repeater
location. Press Signal Silence to perform a survey set at your beginning location. Perform a
minimum of 3 survey sets with good results before proceeding to the next location. Power
up your Repeater.
Existing Survey
– CP-3000A(DA)
To perform a signal survey on an installed network you will first need to enroll the FAST to
the CP-3000A(DA). This will create a Checksum Bad trouble on the panel and on any WRA-
3 Annunciators installed. You can ignore this trouble for the purposes of solely doing signal
surveys. Power the FAST down.
Travel to the repeater location from which you want to check signal strength, power that
repeater down, power the FAST up and allow it to connect to the network. This may take up
to a minute. Place the FAST as close to the repeater as you can, from there perform signal
survey sets. Receiving signal survey results of Not Ready indicate the unit is not able to find
a repeater or panel to link to.
When you have finished performing all signal surveys, delete the FAST from the panel, this
will clear the Checksum Bad troubles from the panel and annunciators.
