4.1 SELECTING THE SID
Selection of the SID for the user is not covered in this document. It is the responsibility of a healthcare professional to assess
the needs of the powerchair user and to select a suitable SID. It is the responsibility of the individual who is installing the SID
and the Omni2 to make sure the two are compatible with each other and the powerchair on which they will be used. If you
are in any doubt contact the SID manufacturer, the powerchair manufacturer and/or Curtiss-Wright. Your powerchair
manufacturer or mobility dealer will be able to advise of the available SIDs for a particular powerchair model.

Due to the electrical output characteristics of many existing, industry-standard, proportional SIDs, it may not be possible to
detect leakage currents between the analogue (proportional) input pins of the Input Section. The following solutions are,
therefore, recommended:
1) Providing additional, environmental protection, for example a rubber boot, to the mated, D-type connectors may
improve the installation in this respect. It is the responsibility of the powerchair and/or SID suppliers to ensure a
suitable risk assessment is carried out for such SIDs. Refer to the declaration of standards for further information
on the impact on compliance.
2) Use of SIDs which have the capability to detect leakage currents across the analogue input pins of the Input
Section.
Curtiss-Wright accept no liability for losses of any kind resulting from the use of proportional SIDs if neither of the above
recommendations are included in the installation.
