Updating Cisco IOS-XE Version
The Cisco IOS can be updated through the WebUI or console.
WebUI:
Open a browser window and navigate to an IP address of the switch. For example, if VLAN1 is set to
192.168.1.150, ensure the computer that is connected to VLAN1 is configured with the same subnet (e.g.
192.168.1.100). This can be done by setting a static IP address.
On the left panel, select Administration
→
Software Management. Choose the following settings:
Upgrade Mode: BUNDLE
Transport Type: Desktop (HTTPS)
Source File Path: [select new image]
Destination: Flash
Click the Download button and wait for completion. Once complete, click the “Save Configuration &
Reload” button.
Once the new IOS is loaded, it may be desired to remove the existing IOS. To do so, enter the following
command through a console port using the exact name of the IOS to be deleted (may not match exactly
what is shown below depending on version). The Tab key can be used to auto-complete the command.
delete flash:ess3x00-universalk9.17.01.01.SPA.bin
