Windows:
•
Identify the COM port assigned to the selected USB port by performing the following windows
commands
o
Start
o
Control Panel
o
System
o
Device Manager
o
Ports (COM & LPT)

Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COM#)
•
Start the terminal-emulation program
PuTTY
on the PC, making communication possible
between the switch and a terminal window.
•
Configure the serial communication
o
9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, no flow control.
•
Assign the COM port number as identified above
•
To confirm correct configuration and communication link
o
Hit <return> and confirm the CLI prompt
o

RS-232 Console Port
Physically connect the RS232 cable / Null-Modem from the J2 cable set to a RS232 port on the PC.
If the PC doesn’t have an RS232 port, you will need to use a USB-to-RS232 adapter including a Null-
Modem.

Please review section USB Console Port to ensure you have configured the baud rate.

Open a terminal window

From the terminal window prompt

~$ sudo minicom
