Chapter 8: Equipment configuration
Important note about inlets
Three types of air inlets are available: ceiling inlets, sidewall inlets and Tunnel inlets. An inlet is composed
of at least one opening, an actuator, and a feedback device.
IMPORTANT:
Both outputs and optional feedback inputs must be on the same board. This is mandatory
for communication in failsafe operation.
It is not possible to assign two NC (normally closed) contacts. At least one must be NO
(normally open).
Never allow open and close to be active simultaneously; this would burn the actuator
motor.
In EDGE, each actuator must have its own inlet tile. Each actuator can control a set of openings. The
parameter
# of inlets
refers to the number of modular inlets controlled by an actuator, giving the total inlet
surface. The number of inlets is not a multiplier for the number of actuators, and is therefore not used to
multiply minimum and maximum amperage.
All three inlet types are configured in the same way except that the ceiling inlets have a
Door type
field to
indicate if the inlet is a single, dual or quad door type. All other settings are the same.
Automatic calibration
NOTE:
Note: Only one inlet can be calibrated at the time. Limit switches must be adjusted before inducing
an automatic calibration process.
The calibration button is displayed when all mandatory parameters are entered. In order for the calibration
do be automatic, the actuator must have limit switches adjusted. Automatic calibration reads actuator
motor current to determine when the actuator reaches the limit switch. Automatic calibration is not avail-
able for selection if the minimum amperage field is lower than 0.3 amperes. If an external relay box is
used to connect more than one actuator, a message prompting you to perform a manual calibration is
displayed
Manual calibration
The calibration button is displayed when all mandatory parameters are entered (opening and closing
times, opening and closing inertia, and time before the whisker switch is reached when using a whisker
switch). The system calculates the time needed to reach a fully open position starting from a fully closed
position. It adds displacements in the open direction and subtract displacements in the closing direction.
Configuring ceiling, Tunnel, and sidewall inlets
All three types of inlets are configured the same way with only a few differences between the three.
1. Press on the inlet type you are configuring in the list of equipment on the left hand side of the screen
and then press on the
icon.
2. Set the following parameters:
Name —
Enter the name of your choice. If the name is too long it is truncated on the tile
Actuator model —
Select the inlet machine model from the drop down list
Supply —
Select the inlet machine power supply from the drop down list
Position feedback —
Select the means by which the controller will be receiving position feedback
