IntelliBridge Interface
This section details the information needed to connect Q-NRG+ to Philips multiparameter monitors through Philips
IntelliBridge Interface.
This allows the Philips monitor to display Q-NRG+ data on screen and send it to a central monitoring system.
Note : IntelliBridge Interface is only available in VENTILATOR mode.
Once the connection between the Q-NRG+ and the Philips multiparameter monitors is established, the Q-NRG+
transfers the following parameters every 30 seconds:

Energy expenditure
RQ (---) Respiratory quotient
VO2 (mL/min) Oxygen consumption
VCO2 (mL/min) Carbon dioxide production
VE (L/min) Minute ventilation
Rf (1/min) Respiratory frequency
Note
: Philips monitor can display data received from Q-NRG+ instrument but cannot remotely control
Q-NRG+.
Note : Due to the specific features of IntelliBridge Open Interface Protocol the data transmission from the
Q-NRG+ to Philips multiparameter monitors may be delayed by several seconds.
WARNING
: Accessory equipment connected to the Q-NRG’s data ports must be certified according to the IEC 60950
standard. All resulting combinations of equipment must be in compliance with the IEC standard
60601-1 systems requirements. Anyone who connects accessory equipment to the Q-NRG configures a
medical system and is, therefore, responsible for ensuring that the resulting system complies with the
requirements of standard IEC 60601-1 and the electromagnetic compatibility standard IEC 60601-1-2.
Connectors and cables
Philips IntelliBridge requires 3 components to establish the physical connection (to be ordered from Philips):
• An EC10 Interface module.
• A standard Ethernet CAT 5 cable (RJ45 connectors, max. 10 m, CAT5 or better, straight wired).
• An EC5 ID Module (Philips P/N 865114 #104 Female DB9).
The IntelliBridge EC10 Interface Module receives data from the IntelliBridge EC5 ID Module (Open Interface Driver
model) which in turn receives data from the Q-NRG+ device over a serial RS232.
Finally, the interface module EC10 is installed into the module rack of the Philips monitors.
Together, the IntelliBridge EC10 and EC5 modules can be viewed as an additional measurement channel that
imports a subset of Q-NRG+ data into the Philips patient monitor.
