Chapter 5 - Maintenance
COSMED srl
Battery installation and removal
Q-NRG utilizes a Li-Ion smart battery which, as all batteries using the same technology do, performance decreases
with age and number of charging/discharging cycles.
The end of life for a Li-Ion smart battery is defined as the point at which the battery fails to deliver 80% of its
original full capacity. The end of life which is acceptable may differ from the typical use of the device.
The smart battery is designed to provide 300 full charge/discharge cycles at room temperature and under normal
discharge rates. If the smart battery is not fully discharged each time, the number of cycles available over life will
increase.
Q-NRG battery information can be found by tapping the
Info
button located at the bottom right corner of the main
screen.
WARNING:
Periodically check the Battery Status and order a replacement when necessary.
Due to increasing safety concerns raised by the aviation industry, the IATA regulations governing the shipping
of Lithium Batteries have been tightened and airlines are enforcing these regulations. Please note that the safe
transportation of such contents by air and the full compliance to IATA regulations is the legal responsibility of the
shipper. The IATA has produced a guide to help shippers understand and comply with the regulations (http://www.
iata.org/). The device incorporates a Li-Ion rechargeable battery, that can be removed as described in “Preventive
Maintenance”.
WARNING:
Explosion or Fire – using non-recommended batteries could result in injury/burns to the patients or
users. Use only batteries recommended or manufactured by COSMED. Do not incinerate a battery or
store at high temperature. Serious injury or death could result.
Procedure
Refer to “To Open Back Panel” and “To Close the Back Panel” to replace the battery.
WARNING:
When transporting a spare Q-NRG battery pack, make sure to protect electrical contacts to avoid any
possible contact with conductive material. Dispose of the battery according to local, state or country
laws.
