B Connecting the sensing leads
Always use only the supplied sensing leads, or the adapter leads which are optional-
ly available for the DMM and are therefore suitable for it. Before making any connec-
tion, pay attention to the connection plug's condition or that of the sensors and make
sure that the insulation is undamaged.
The supplied sensing leads are permissible for voltages of up to 1,000 V max. Your
VC 608 measuring device is designed for voltages of up to 1,000 V (DC) or 750 V (AC)
rms. Be particularly careful in dealing with alternating voltages greater than 25 V or
35 V direct voltage. Never exceed the maximum input magnitudes, because otherwi-
se you could be subjected to extreme danger due to the measuring device becoming
damaged.
C Commissioning
C1 Basic setting up
Set the rotary switch to the desired position in order to select a type of measurement.
This results in the measuring device being switched on. Setting the switch to 'OFF'
signifies that the measuring device is switched off. 'Auto-Power Off' signifies that the
equipment is automatically switching off into the so-called 'sleep mode' (readiness
or 'stand-by'). The equipment will switch itself to 'off' after approximately 15 minu-
tes, if
no key has been pressed, or
the rotary switch has not been operated,
the measuring device has not recorded any measured value,
the auto-power function has not been switched off in advance.
Stand-by will be displayed by the flashing 'AUTO OFF' symbol. The measuring devi-
ce can be activated by pressing any key. The 'Auto-Power Off' function can be shut
down by pressing the 'MENU'key and then the 'ENTER' key. The 'Auto Off' symbol
disappears. The measuring device is now switched on until the battery has run down
(empty).
C2 Key references
a) HOLD
You can switch the data hold function on or off, by (briefly) pressing any key. Data
hold signifies that the measured value (or the whole display) will be held ('frozen')
until the data hold function is switched off again.
