• Click
Level
. A dialogue window will appear on your screen.
• Select the required settings for
Volume
and
Input sensitivity
by moving the scroll bar
(keep the mouse button down).
• Click on the X in the title bar to close the dialogue window.
• Set the audio parameters of your computer by using the respective Windows pro-
grammes (such as the programme for your sound card).
• Click
Off
when you want to finish the audio transmission.
The sound card terminates the playing back. The transmission capacity taken up by the
audio signal until now will again be released for use by the video signal. This immediately
improves picture quality.
Video
When a connection with an ACom has been established, you can switch between the six
video inputs. You can determine the video play back quality. You have the choice between
a high-resolution and a lower-resolution mode.
❚
The Common Intermediate Format (CIF) supports a local resolution of 288 lines x 352
dots. This is the resolution of the default setting.
❚
The format Quarter CIF (QCIF) has a resolution of 144 lines x 176 dots.
Selection of the lower resolution may prove to be sensible if you prefer a higher frame
rate (refresh frequency) to a high resolution. The resolution of the video signal currently
received is identified in the field Video inside the control window: green indicates higher
resolution (CIF), yellow the lower resolution (QCIF).
Furthermore, you must find a compromise between the conflicting demands of high im-
age definition (sharp focus) and a rapid, “lifelike“ representation of movement inside the
picture.
If your priority is a high refresh frequency, the picture quality in terms of sharpness and
focus will decrease in direct proportion to the increase of movement in the camera range
(blurred and distorted images). If you prefer pictures with the highest possible sharpness
and a clear focus, this means that the refresh frequency decreases when there is move-
ment to be detected. If movement is anticipated only in a limited part of the frame, you
may be well advised to prioritise sharpness. The smart compression process is capable
of refreshing only the parts of the images concerned by (spatially constricted) move-
ments. The unchanged rest of the picture will be represented with the highest possible
degree of sharpness.
By selecting the option PiP (Picture in Picture) you can display the image of the local
camera as a part of the surveillance frame.
• Click on one of the fields
Camera
to receive the desired camera image or video signal.
• Define your choices by clicking the respective options.
• Move the scroll bar between
Sharpness
and
Motion
to create the right balance.
