Notes
This function is used to monitor various power status
conditions of the Apex PDT including the remaining
Battery Pack capacity. This function can take as long as 70
ms to execute; therefore, to avoid undue system burden and
delay, do not perform this function more often than
necessary.
For the Apex III PDT’s Battery Pack's internal Gas Gauge
to maintain accuracy, the Battery Pack must be depleted
until the system detects a Low Battery status. Application
programs that perform preemptive low battery
determination based on Battery Pack capacity (cl) will
cause the Gas Gauge to become inaccurate. Battery Pack
capacity monitoring should be done for information
purposes only and not for the purpose of determining a low
battery condition. The internal gas gauge is not present in
the Apex IV Battery pack.

Ways to Conserve Apex PDT Power
Because the Apex PDT is a battery-powered device, power
management is an important feature. The Apex PDT has built-in
power management that is transparent to the application program
and to the user; however, for maximum power savings the
application program and user can actively participate in the power
management by adhering to the following guidelines:
q TURN OFF the scanner aiming beam (
