For more information on these drivers, run the
README.COM
file in the root
directory of the IBM OS/2 SSD from Compaq.
If you use SmartStart to install your operating system, these drivers install
automatically. Otherwise, you can use SmartStart to create an
IBM OS/2 Support Software Diskette (SSD) from Compaq to support a
manual installation of IBM OS/2.
If you do not want SmartStart to configure the server, follow this procedure:
1.
Launch the SmartStart CD as previously described in this chapter.
2.
Launch manual operating system configuration:
a.
Select the System Configuration Utility.
b.
Select the Operating System Installation option from the System
Configuration Utility main menu.
3.
Follow the instructions provided for the operating system you are
installing.
Sun Solaris Intel Platform Edition Device
Drivers for Compaq
To operate with Sun Solaris Intel Platform Edition 2.6 and 7, your Compaq
ProLiant DL580 server must maintain certain device drivers.
You can access the drivers and installation procedures for Solaris 2.6 at the
Sun website:
www.soldc.sun.com/support/drivers/
For Solaris 7, the drivers are included with the operating system.

The
cnft
driver is required for the Texas Instruments TLAN-based
Compaq NICs.
■
The
iprb
driver is required for the Intel-based Compaq NICs. You can
access the Gigabit Ethernet NIC driver and installation procedures for
Solaris 2.6 and 7 at the Intel website:
