COMPAQ CONFIDENTIAL - NEED TO KNOW REQUIRED
In addition to ABP, the ProLiant 6000 server supports Card to Card (C2C)
Interleaving. C2C further distributes memory addresses across multiple banks
of memory, as is done with the ABP groups. C2C now extends the distribution
across the two memory expansion boards for optimum system memory
efficiency. Table 4-3 lists the memory configuration rules that automatically
enable C2C. The corresponding figure illustrates the four banks of memory on
each memory expansion board. In this figure, banks are identified by letters for
clarity. Each board will continue to be reported by slot number (21 and 22) and
each DIMM will be reported by bank number (1-4) and DIMM number (1-16).
Memory Configuration Rules for Card to Card
Interleaving
■
The memory expansion boards must be identically populated with
DIMMs of the same size and speed.
■
The ABP modes can be used with the C2C modes as long as all of the
rules for both are followed.
■
With C2C enabled and 2-bank ABP enabled, banks a, b, c, and d must
all be of the same size and type, and banks w, x, y, and z (if installed)
must all be of the same size and speed.
■
With C2C enabled and 4-bank ABP enabled, banks a, b, c, d, w, x, y,
and z must all be of the same size and speed. All eight banks must be the
same.
■
With C2C enabled and no ABP enabled, each memory expansion board
must be configured identically.
