Configuring and Deploying Server Blades 

Configuration and Deployment Overview 

To configure and deploy the server blades: 

1. 

Choose an operating system. Refer to the “Supported Operating Systems” section 
in this chapter. 

2. 

Select a deployment method and establish a deployment infrastructure. Refer to 
the “Deployment Methods and Infrastructure” section in this chapter. 

3. 

Install all system hardware. Refer to Chapters 1 and 2 of this guide and to the 

Compaq ProLiant BL p-Class System Setup and Installation Guide

. 

4. 

Connect to the server blade using one of the following methods: 

—  Through the existing network (in the rack) 

—  Through the server blade diagnostic port (in the rack) 

—  Through the server blade diagnostic port (out of the rack) 

—  Through the server blade rear panel connectors (out of the rack) 

Refer to the “Configuration Hardware Setup” section in this chapter. 

5. 

Access the server blade with the iLO Remote Console. Refer to the “Integrated 
Lights-Out Management” section in this chapter. 

6. 

Configure the server blades by the method you chose in step 2. 

7. 

Deploy subsequent server blades.
