13. Maintenance
Print Head is a delicate part which needs to be cleaned as per the recommended methods to have long life
and to ensure consistent print quality. Below sections give recommended steps to clean the Print Heads.
Head Purging
Head purging refers to the method in which heads are cleaned by forcing pressurized ink through the
nozzles. In the Neptune printer, head purging buttons for each color are available on the carriage, as shown
in the below figure:

Note
: If nozzles are foun
d blocked even after normal purging, then try the powerful purging (“P” switch in
purging board has to be kept pressed for few seconds and then required color switch has to be pressed).
Head Blotting
Head blotting refers to the process in which the head surface area is cleaned with the help of tissue paper
or cloth. Blotting removes ink drops adhering to the Print Head nozzle surface. Gently touch with a clean
recommended head cleaning tissue on the head’s nozzle plate. One should make sure that the tiss
ue is
clean, soft, and also does not have any chemicals on it.
Follow these steps to clean the Print Head:
Step 1:
Press the Purging button of the desired color.
Note
: Please note that purging button should be pressed only for a second (until few drops of ink come
out).
