EXPLORER 8000 Series
Quick Guide
IMPORTANT
Observe all safety requirements listed in the
beginning of the User & installation manual,
and install and use the system according to the
guidelines in the User & installation manual.
The
User & installation manual
is available in

the web interface in the ACU (next section)

(select

and support > Cobham SATCOM Service
and Support > Downloads
).
Access the web interface
1. Switch on the Antenna Control Unit (ACU).
2. Connect your computer to
LAN1
on the back
of the ACU, or your smartphone to the
WLAN
interface of the ACU (WLAN must first be set
up in the web interface using LAN1).
3. Open your Internet browser and enter the IP
address of the ACU. The default IP address is
http://192.168.0.1
.
4. On the ACU keypad, push and hold
for 5
seconds and enter user name:
admin
(no
password) in the web interface.
Note:
Change the administrator password
immediately after login!

select
HELPDESK > Support
and click the
link under
User manual
.
Important! Calibrate the compass
You must make a compass calibration every time
the antenna is installed. If the compass is not
calibrated the system will not work properly!
1.
Park the car in a flat area and make sure the
antenna is
stowed
.
2. Switch on the ACU.
3. When the LEDs are steady green on the ACU,
connect a computer to the ACU, access
the web interface and go to
SERVICE >
Calibration
.
4. Under
Compass calibration,
click
Start
.
5.
When the Status field shows
Ready
, move
the vehicle to the next position, 90 degrees
relative to the current position, and click
Continue
.
6. When all four steps are completed, the
Continue button changes to
Start
. The
compass calibration is now completed.
Start the system
1. Switch on the ACU and the VSAT modem.
2. Wait until the LEDs on the front plate of the
ACU show that the system is ready to be
configured:
•
Power LED: Green
•
Logon LED: Off
•
Fail/Pass LED: Flashing green during power-
on self test, after that steady green.
