Rear Brake Hose Installation
1. Feed the new brake hose assembly from the rear of the vehicle forward to the master cylinder following the
original route.
2. Carefully install the flared end of the brake hose into the master cylinder and tighten to 144 in-lb (16.3 N·m)
(Figure 6-8, Page 6-10) .
3. Pull any slack in hose from the master cylinder back through holes in chassis crossmembers and up to the tee
located under the seat.
4. At the original locations, secure the brake hose assembly to the vehicle with the hardware previously removed
(Figure 6-10, Page 6-10) and new wire ties (Figure 6-1, Page 6-6) .
5. Secure the brake hoses, banjo bolts, and new copper washers to each rear caliper assembly (Figure 6-9, Page
6-10) . Tighten the hardware to 146 in-lb (16.5 N·m). See following CAUTION.
CAUTION
• The banjo bolts are metric. Use only metric thread replacements.
6. Fill the reservoir of the master cylinder and bleed the hydraulic system. See Bleeding the Hydraulic Brake
System on page 6-16. See following WARNING.
WARNING
• Ensure hydraulic hoses cannot contact any moving parts that will cause wear and damage.
7. Perform all of the brake system inspections. See Brake System Inspection on page 6-4. See preceding
WARNING.
