Inner Clutch Cover
CLUTCHES
10. Remove the moveable sheave (4)
and washer (3) from the fixed sheave (2)
.
See following NOTE.
DRIVEN CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
1.
Place the fixed sheave (2) onto the tool base.
2.
Place the washer (3) onto the fixed sheave shaft
.
3.
Place the moveable sheave (4) onto the fixed sheave (2)
and align the marks
on both sheaves.
4.
Place the spring (5) and cam (6) onto the moveable sheave (4). Insert spring ends into original holes in cam (1, 2,
3 and 4) and sheave (A, B, and C).
See following NOTE.
NOTE:
The numbers (1, 2, 3 and 4) in cam and letters (A, B, and C) in sheave are cast or stamped next to their
respective holes.
5.
Place the disassembly tool collar onto the threaded rod and center collar on the cam (6)
6.
Thread spring compression handle down the threaded rod and compress the spring until the cam is at end of shaft.
7.
Align slot in cam with key on shaft and continue compressing spring.
8.
Tighten spring compression handle just enough to expose snap ring groove at end of shaft.
9.
Ensure mark on cam aligns with marks on sheaves
.
10. Install snap ring (8)
DRIVEN CLUTCH INSTALLATION
1.
Ensure the splines on the transaxle input shaft are clean. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound.
2.
Align the splines and slide the driven clutch onto the transaxle input shaft. Secure with washer and new bolt.
See following NOTE.
NOTE:
If using existing bolt, clean threads thoroughly and apply blue thread-locking compound prior to installation.
3.
Tighten bolt to 36 ft-lb (49 N·m). It may be necessary to let the torque wrench rest on the rear suspension trailing
arm and then grasp the driven clutch and turn it against the wrench until the specified torque is achieved.
4.
Install the drive belt.
See Drive Belt Installation, Section 18, Page 18-5.
5.
Install the clutch cover and intake hose.
See Outer Clutch Cover Installation, Section 18, Page 18-3.
6.
Install the rear shock absorber on the driver side.
See Rear Shock Installation, Section 9, Page 9-2.
7.
Connect battery and spark plug wire(s).
See Connecting the Battery – Gasoline Vehicles on page 1-4.
