Idle RPM Adjustment

DANGER

• Do not operate the engine in an enclosed area without proper ventilation. The engine produces carbon

monoxide, which is an odorless, deadly poison.

1.

Place Forward/Reverse handle in NEUTRAL. Start engine and bring it up to operating temperature. Measure the
engine RPM with a tachometer (CC P/N AM10753) approved for this engine.

2.

Turn engine governed idle screw (2) out until it no longer touches the bellcrank

(Figure 15-24, Page 15-25)

.

3.

Hold the carburetor throttle lever (5)

(Figure 15-23, Page 15-25)

against the carburetor idle screw (1) by pushing

the governor arm (4) clockwise

(Figure 15-24, Page 15-25)

as far as it will go.

4.

Adjust carburetor idle screw (1) until tachometer displays 1200 ± 25 RPM

(Figure 15-23, Page 15-25)

.

5.

Release carburetor throttle lever (5) and governor arm (4). Adjust engine governed idle screw (2)

Page 15-25)

until tachometer displays 1300 ± 25 RPM.

With engine at operating temperature and idling at specified RPM, the carburetor throttle lever (5) should float

off the carburetor idle screw (1)
