WARNING
• If a fuse is blown, determine the cause of the failure and make necessary repairs before installing a
new fuse. Use the appropriately rated fuse; if a fuse with a higher amp rating is used, damage to the
vehicle electrical system may occur.

TEST PROCEDURE 3 – Ground Cables
See General Warnings, Section 1, Page 1-2.
1.
Disconnect battery and spark plug wire(s).
See Side-Post Battery: Disconnecting the Battery –
Gasoline/Diesel Vehicles on page 1-3.
See Top-Post Battery: Disconnecting the Battery- Gasoline/Diesel Vehicles on page 1-4.

Check the frame ground for corrosion, loose connections, and/or damaged terminals
Repair or replace as required.
3.
Check the negative (–) battery terminal, 6-gauge black wire (w202), and the two 12-gauge black wires (w112 and
w132) for damage. Repair or replace as required.
4.
Check the engine ground wire (w203), located on the remote oil filter bracket, for corrosion, loose connections,
and/or damage
. Repair or replace as required.
5.
Set the multimeter to 200 ohms.
6.
Check for continuity between the 6-gauge wire (w202) terminal, disconnected from the negative (–) battery
terminal, and the frame.
7.
Check for continuity between the 6-gauge wire (w203) terminal, disconnected from the frame, and the engine.
8.
The readings obtained in the previous steps should indicate continuity. If any of the readings are incorrect, clean
and tighten wire connections. If the connections are good and the reading is incorrect, repair or replace the wire.
