5 Maintenance and care
The CLEMENS HEXAGON is designed so that it requires a minimum of maintenance and care.
However, the following points should be observed:
After the first 2 hours of operation, all screws are to be checked for a tight fit, afterwards check them before every
day of operation.
At the same time all the adjusting screws are to be retightened. The adjusting screws should be checked from
time to time for a tight fit (see Figure 4). The sliding units should be mobile without too much floating.
When cleaning the HEXAGON with a high-pressure cleaner, please make sure that the high-pressure jet is not
aimed at bearing and sealing points or hydraulic connections. This can result in damage and premature failure.
The hydraulic oil should be filtered through a filter at a point in the hydraulic system of the tractor.
The HEXAGON should be stored in a dry place and on level and firm ground (risk of tipping over). Care must be
taken to ensure that the machine is moved together to protect the piston rods of the hydraulic cylinders against
damage and corrosion.
The guideways of the hexagonal profiles are lubricated in the factory and should be lubricated after one or two
days of operation, depending on the intensity of work. This is done by help of the two lubricating nipples next to
the upper link hitch. For this purpose, the HEXAGON must be moved together as otherwise not all the bearing
points can be reached by the lubricant.
As the spindle for the mechanical adjustment of the land roller has no lubricating nipples, it should be dismantled
at least once a year for being lubricated.
