Import and Export Images

RetCam 3 and RetCam Shuttle User Manual

PN 18-000393 Rev. A

Importing Images

Except for data backup, the export destination on the network is an intermediate location. 
To complete the data transfer and make the images available for viewing on another 
RetCam system, you must use the RetCam software to import the transferred images into 
the target system database.

Never connect the RetCam System to a network or any externally powered 
devices or peripherals during imaging.

NOTE

To ensure exam date and time are displayed accurately, determine the time 
zone in which the patient data was originally captured. Create a domain with 
the location set to that time zone. Import patient data into that domain.

NOTE

The Import function can be a very time consuming process. The 
recommended maximum import per single batch is 2000 images. It is 
strongly recommended that you limit batch size by importing images from 
one patient at a time and by selecting only the images required for your 
immediate needs.

NOTE

Files imported to RetCam Review Station version 4.1 or RetCam 5.x can be 
exported as MLX files and then imported into RetCam system software 
version 6.x. 

To import legacy (pre-version 4.x) RetCam still images into RetCam system 
software version 6.x, first import the legacy images into RetCam Review 
Station version 4.1. Then, export those images from RetCam Review Station 
as MLX files and import them into RetCam system software V6.x.

You cannot directly import legacy (pre-version 4.x) RetCam video files into 
RetCam system software version 6.x.

NOTE

Patient data imported into a RetCam version 6.x device from a RetCam 
version 5.x device will yield unexpected results in the 

Exam Weight

 field. 

NOTE

 Use the MLX format when importing images captured on another RetCam 
device. Use the DICOM format when importing images from non-RetCam 
devices.
