Installing the Java Runtime Plug-in

If automatic installation of the Java plug-in fails, you can install the plug-in separately 
before you attempt to log on to the configuration utility or Dashboard.

Note: 

Note: Before installing the Java 2 Runtime Environment, make sure that you 
have installed the full set of required operating system patches needed for the 
current Java release.

To install the Java runtime plug-in on your workstation:

Step 1

In your web browser, enter the IP and port number of your T1000: http://IP>:80
The Java plug-in icon appears.

Step 2

Click the Java plug-in icon and follow the screen prompts to copy the plug-in installer to 
your workstation hard disk. The Java plug-in setup icon (for example, j2re-1.6.0) appears on 
your computer at the location you specified.

Step 3

Double-click the plug-in setup icon, and follow the screen prompts to install the plug-in.

Step 4

Return to your web browser and click the Java plug-in icon a second time to display the GUI 
logon screen.

Lights-Out Management

For more information on configuring and using the Lights-Out Management (LOM) features 
of the T1000, see 

“Accessing and Configuring the LOM Port”

 on page 2-31.

Upgrading the T1000 Operating System

In addition to ensuring that the T1000 runs the minimum recommended OS version, one of 
the requirements of a high availability installation is to install the same software release on 
both appliances of the setup. Therefore, when you upgrade software of the appliances, you 
must ensure that software of both appliances is upgraded. Additionally, to ensure minimum 
outage of the Web site, you must upgrade software of the secondary appliance before you 
proceed with the primary T1000 appliance the high availability setup.

Upgrading software of the secondary appliance before the primary appliance also enables 
you to ensure that the upgrade process is completed without any issues. If there are any 
issues, you can rollback the earlier release without any disruption of services.

To upgrade software of the appliances in a high availability setup, complete the following 
procedures, in the same order:
