dot1x pae
To set the Port Access Entity (PAE) type, use the dot1x pae command in interface configuration mode. To
disable the PAE type that was set, use the no form of this command.
dot1x pae { supplicant | authenticator }
no dot1x pae { supplicant | authenticator }
Syntax Description
The interface acts only as a supplicant and will not respond to messages that
are meant for an authenticator. supplicant

meant for a supplicant. authenticator

Usage Guidelines
Use the no dot1x pae interface configuration command to disable IEEE 802.1x authentication on the port.
When you configure IEEE 802.1x authentication on a port, such as by entering the
dot1x port-control
interface
configuration command, the switch automatically configures the port as an IEEE 802.1x authenticator. After
the
no dot1x pae interface configuration command is entered, the Authenticator PAE operation is disabled.
Examples The following example shows that the interface has been set to act as a supplicant:
Device(config)# interface g1/0/3
Device(config-if)# dot1x pae supplicant
