The menu “CIMEL\MODEM\HTTP TEST” uploads a K8 file containing the CU settings 
on an HTTP server. The CU indicates how was finished the communication (HTTP OK 
or HTTP ERROR). In case of error, the CU indicates the server HTTP reply code at 
the end. 

During the communication, there are several information displayed on the CU. These 
information are important and could be used to resolve the encountered problem. 

The CU must create a GPRS connection to the server before using the communication 
protocol  (FTP/  HTTP).  This  part  works  the  same  way  for  the  FTP  and  HTTP 
communication. The steps are: 

1.  Modem initialization. 
2.  Connect to the operator network. 
3.  Create a socket to the server for the communication. 
4.  Dialog with the server using the appropriate protocol. 

In case of error, the steps 1 to 3 are identified as GPRS errors. The step 4 is an error 
returned by the server so refer to the chapter FTP communication error or HTTP(S) 
communication error. 

 GPRS errors 

The possible causes that may lead to GPRS communication errors: 

•

 

SIM card is not inserted correctly. 

•

 

SIM card PIN code is activated. 

•

 

The GSM antenna is not mounted correctly or is broken. 

•

 

The GSM network signal is low. 

•

 

The SIM card APN is not filled correctly. 

Procedure to follow: 

•

 

Insert the SIM card correctly into its support. Refer to the “Communication 
over GPRS” chapter of this manual. 

•

 

Insert the SIM card into a mobile phone and disable the SIM card PIN code. 

•

 

Test the quality of the GSM network signal. Go into CIMEL\MODEM\GSM 
TEST and verify the level of the “CSQ” value. This value has to be more than 
10 to ensure that the quality of the network is good enough.  

•

 

Ensure that the APN provided by the SIM card operator is correct. 

If this has not solved the problem, please contact Cimel technical support.
