6 Factory calibration and maintenance
6.1. Sensor head calibration and maintenance
Calibration
Cimel recommends its customers to calibrate the photometers every 12 to 24
months.
The calibration consists in a SKY calibration using an integrating sphere and a SUN
calibration by inter-comparison or using Langley plots method.
The calibration process also includes:
•
verification of filters and replacement if necessary
•
verification of detectors and replacement if necessary
•
Verification of acquisition chain
•
verification of sun tracking setting and replacement if necessary
Maintenance
The sensor head internal humidity is dried by a desiccant bag. This value is reported
in all GROUP statuses data. If that value become higher than 50%, with an increase
of 1% per week during several weeks, the desiccant bag must be replaced. Cimel is
using a Clariant DESI PAK ref B001603.
To obtain full measurement quality, the desiccant bag should be placed near the
tracking sensor:
Note: The internal sensor head humidity variation is very slow and needs few hours to
be stabilized to the lowest value after replacement.
