1. Introduction
■ Principle:
The Aqua-TR is a capacitive moisture tester: its operating principle
is the correlation between a grain sample dielectric permittivity and
its moisture content.
This correlation is characterized by a calibration curve, specific to
each grain or variety, and stored in the equipment’s memory.
A calibration curve is elaborated in collaboration with the official
Metrology Services starting from:
- measurement of the moisture content of samples (standardized
reference method),
- measurement of the dielectric characteristic of samples,
performed at a given volume for all grains; this characteristic is a
frequency varying in a manner opposite to the permittivity value,
- weight measurement of the grain volume,
- temperature measurement of the sample, performed
automatically.
