SETUP AND USE
This is a simple but accurate tool which offers some data
which is generally overlooked, the foot length. Its
importance is given by the fact that the culmination
moment of growth of the foot is one or two years before
the culmination moment of the height, thus during the
developing stage considerable changes can be seen in
the relation between foot and height. A rather high value
of this relation, over 16% indicates a phase of fast growth of
the foot at the first stages of puberty. A rather low value of
this relation, less than 14,5% indicates a culmination
moment of growth already completed. This value can be
useful especially during a first visit when the clinician does
not have enough information about the growth stages of
the young patient.

SETUP AND USE
The intensity of the pain is represented along a scale, in
which one end indicates absent pain, the other a very
strong pain.
In the Wong-Baker scale, more suitable for children over 3-
4 years of age, the graduations are represented with smiley
faces, the expression of which, by analogy, indicates the
intensity of the painful experience (nothing, little, enough,
strong, very strong).
In the numerical VAS scale, suitable for children over 8
years and adults, the painful experience gradations are
indicated with numbers, from 0 to 10, where 0 indicates no
pain and 10 the worst possible pain, with all intermediate
graduations.
There are two measuring instruments associated with the
algometer. Their composition is functional for the execution
of angular and linear measurements: the assemblage point
forms a mobile protractor for the measurement of the joint
ranges, their contiguous position forms a graduated line,
while a fixed protractor is printed on one of the two parts.
