Reject Drive Systems

The reject drive systems actually consist

of separately powered subsystems, including

the Side Drive Subsystem, Transfer Conveyor

Drive Subsystem and the Reject Conveyor Drive

Subsystem.

Side Conveyor Drive Subsystem

Use the illustration (Figure 5-23) below to

identify the mechanical components of the side

conveyor drive subsystem.

This discussion will cover the left side

conveyor drive components. An identical set

of equipment handles the right side conveyor

action.

At the bottom left of the machine, the left side

conveyor motor (Figure 5-23, A) powers the left

side conveyor subsystem. A shaft from the drive

motor extends directly into a gear reducer (B).

The output shaft is connected to a drive pulley

(C).

This pulley drives a belt (D) which in turn

powers another, smaller pulley (E). This pulley

turns a shaft (F) which in turn powers another

pulley (G).

This pulley powers the side conveyor belt (H),

which helps move the bottom of the ﬂatwork

toward the transfer conveyor.

Transfer Conveyor Drive Subsystem

Use the illustration (Figure 5-24) below to

identify the mechanical components of the

transfer conveyor drive subsystem.

The transfer conveyor drive subsystem is

is covered in the reject drive system section.

The reject drive system ribbons (Figure 5-20,

A) power the reject drive system idler roll (B). At

the end of this idler roll is a pulley (C).

This pulley powers a belt (D), which in turn

powers another pulley (E) attached to a drive

shaft (F).

At the other end of this drive shaft is a gear

(G), which meshes with a smaller gear (H). This

second gear is attached to a drive roll (I) which

in turn powers the transfer conveyor ribbons (J)

toward the front of the unit, carrying the ﬂatwork

onto the reject conveyor ribbons..
