Tail Air Assembly Adjustment
The tail air bar assembly helps ensure a smooth
transition for flatwork from the feeder to the
ironer.
It also helps to speed up production by
narrowing the gap between individual pieces of
flatwork as they are fed through the machine.
Required Tools
1/2”, 9/16” wrenches
Perform only when the unit is OFF
with power disconnected.
Check the air bar angle and position (Fig-
ure 7-85):
It should be about 1” (25 mm) from the
discharge conveyor idler roll.
The bottom of the air bar should be
nearly even, perhaps just slightly be-
low, the top of the discharge conveyor
idler roll.
The air holes should be angled so that
the air blast just touches the discharge
ribbons.
Loosen the various mounting bolts and set
screws as necessary to make these adjust-
ments (Figure 7-86, A, B).
Once adjustments are made, make sure all
adjustments bolts and secure, and that all
pieces are square and level to one another
and the machine.
Start the unit and process several pieces of
flatwork. Check whether the air blast is ad-
equately pushing flatwork down between
the feeder’s discharge conveyor and the
next machine’s input conveyor.
If necessary, adjust the tail air bar pres-
sure regulator (Figure 7-87) located on the
right endframe inside the unit. It should
generally be set between 30-45 psi (205-
410 kPa).
