Press and release the small button at the
top of the photosensor (Figure 7-57, D).
The green light will flash and then stay
on, indicting the sensor has “learned” the
distance to the target.
Press a green station Start button.
Now check the CHI Panel. If the panel
display shows:
SENSOR ACTIVATION TEST
As appropriate:
If the display does not change for
several seconds, it indicates the new
photosensor is already set to the correct
operating mode. Go to Step 14 of the
Checking the Photosensors Setting.
If the display shows an error message,
you will see something like:
SENSOR FAILED/MISALIGNED
(109) UPPER WALL SENSOR
This indicates the new photosensor
needs to be reset to the correct operat-
ing mode. Go to Step 8 of the Check-
ing the Photosensors Setting.

Proximity Sensor Positioning
Adjustment
Proximity sensors are mounted close to the
surface of the objects to be sensed. These sensors
activate when their magnetic field is disturbed as
the surface of the target object comes into view.
The unit uses two different types of proximity
sensors: Those that are similar to the photosensors
with a screw connector at the base (Figure 7-60)
and those that have a “pigtail” which terminates
in a plastic connector (Figure 7-61).
Depending on there they are located on the
machine, there are two different techniques
for adjusting their positioning. Of the unit’s 8
proximity sensors, 6 are located on either the
spread and transfer rails.
These require a different adjustment technique
that those two which are located on the transfer
clamp assemblies.
