ABOUT RADIAL PRESSURE WAVE THERAPY

Treatment results have demonstrated that shock wave therapy provides improved blood circulation in the treated pain regions and that
a long term stimulation of metabolism is achieved in areas which, by nature, are poorly supplied with blood. Since repeated treatment
sessions have shown to increase the beneficial effects of shock wave therapy, there is every reason to assume that shock waves also
produce secondary effects as described in the hypothesis towards associative pain memory, for instance.
Pulsed Radial Pressure Wave - Introduction
Pulsed radial pressure wave equipment delivers the energy in pulses or bursts of radial pressure wave energy. The pulses are typically 6
to 12ms in duration (pulse width) and are repeated with a frequency of 0.5 to 21 Hz (pulse frequency). As with other modalities such as
ultrasound, it is found that delivering the energy in pulses is often therapeutically more beneficial than providing the same amount of
energy in continuous waveform. Pulsed radial pressure wave treatment appears to be effective for many conditions especially in the early
stages of recovery.
